Examining the impact of legalization of cannabis for non-medical purposes on products available to the consumer.

With legalization of cannabis, consumers now have access to a variety of novel compounds. The number of products available can be overwhelming. In particular, it is known that the potency of products available to the consumer has been increasing steadily over the decades and most sharply in the last few years. Additionally, the price of cannabis on the legal market has been decreasing, making it competitive with cannabis sourced illicitly.

In this longitudinal analysis we are cataloguing the products available to consumers on the Ontario Cannabis Store website over a number of years (starting in 2022) to track the progression of availability of products. We are particularly interested in THC and CBD content, as well as ter1.

This project will provide valuable insights into trends and costs of cannabis available on the legal market.
