Conducting collaborative research locally, nationally and globally.
Institute for Mental Health Policy Research
At the Institute for Mental Health Policy Research, scientists conduct collaborative research on communities, populations, health systems and global health. Our work also involves developing and evaluating prevention and intervention initiatives. The Institute is committed to equity, informed by the social determinants of health.
Our research includes community and digital interventions, monitoring health trends and services, and more.
The Institute has three core research sections, a data lab and two cross-institutional centres:
Population Health and Community Transformation (PHACT)
Community Addiction and Mental Health Research & Evaluation (CARE)
Health Outcomes and Performance Evaluation (HOPE)
The Ontario Laboratory (O-Lab)
World Health Organization/Pan-American Health Organization (WHO/PAHO) Collaborating Centre in Addiction and Mental Health
Ontario Tobacco Research Unit
Our work brings attention to areas—whether it’s an under-served population or an emerging health risk—to empower individuals, communities and systems to make a difference in improving their health. And we develop solutions based on rigorous research, working closely with relevant partners.
Through the knowledge we generate, we are raising awareness and driving social change to improve the lives of people with mental illness, including addiction, whether they live next door or halfway around the world.
